Reservoir 2B Replacement

South Coast Water District

Construction Management/Inspection

Completed 2025

AKM provided construction management and inspection services for the Reservoir 2B Replacement Project for South Coast Water District (SCWD). Reservoir site work included demolishing the existing 0.1 MG aboveground steel reservoir and associated piping and appurtenances, the existing inlet/outlet piping, drain line and valve vault, as well as the interfering portion of site fencing and access gate. The reservoir site was then regraded to provide space for two new reservoirs. Key improvements included the construction of:

  • New retaining walls
  • New wood access steps leading to the new antenna
  • New fence and access gate
  • Two new 0.1 MG aboveground steel reservoirs with associated piping and appurtenances
  • New inlet/outlet pipe, hydrodynamic mixing system, and altitude valve assembly
  • Site drainage piping and drain boxes.

Additionally, the project involved removing and replacing electrical equipment, panel, and antenna, paving the reservoir site, and conducting pressure testing, disinfection, and startup of new facility.
The access road improvements included:

  • Constructing concrete V-ditches, culverts, and energy dissipation structures (rip rap)
  • Installing a new concrete pad and retaining wall for the transformer
  • Paving the site access road with asphalt and concrete.
